Tim Ross Memorial Award for Leadership in an Outdoor Environment

2008 Award Recipient: Paige Gaynor – Studying at Dalhousie University
2009 Award Recipient: Kaitlin Jeffrey – Studying at University of Victoria

2010 Award Recipient: Kate Marriott – Studying at Brock University

As a member of the 2010 Camp Chief Hector spring-summer team, Kate Marriot was given the opportunity to take on leadership roles as both a counselor and the Waterfront Director. In all of her work at CCH her goals were the same: to focus on making every individual campers experience a success and ensuring that their environment was encouraging, caring and safe for the most positive outcomes, with a high priority on having fun in the process.

A full-time student in the Concurrent Education and Teaching Program at Brock University, Kate works with different aged children from diverse backgrounds and abilities. She believes her work as a teacher will be a direct extension of her work at camp: listening, sharing, guiding, doing, advising, encouraging, preparing for the real world, and having fun in a safe, encouraging environment.

The Shader Kids Scholarship helped fund additional qualifying courses for Kate, including a Special Education class for the identification of students with exceptionalities.
